Making a Difference

Many years ago C.T. Studd coined this phrase, “Only one life twill soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last”.

When I was a young boy, I read that phrase on a plaque hanging on a wall in the back of the church where I grew up. That phrase has stayed with me all of my life, and until recently I had no idea of its history. So, the other day as I thought about “Making a Difference” I decided to look up the origin of that quote. In doing so, I learned about C.T. Studd. He was a missionary to China, giving his life to make a difference for Christ. He was born in 1860 and died in 1931. His life still speaks today through the impressions, inspirational quotes and life imprints he made upon others. I want to be like that, I want to “Make a Difference”. In Chris Hodges book, “What’s Next?” I found this quote…”The purpose of life is to discover your gift...the meaning of life is to give your gift away”.

I want to live like that! I want to “Make a Difference”!

Romans 6:23 speaks of “God’s free gift”…

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 ESV

I’ve thought a lot lately about the free gift of God and how it equates with eternal purpose. I want to be a conduit of “God’s free gift” extending God’s graciousness to others, leading them to eternal purpose.

God has equipped us to disperse “God’s free gift” everywhere we go and to everyone we meet. “Only one life twill soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last”.

Let’s “Make a Difference”…
Express “God’s free gift” to others. Make it your, “What’s Next?”.
