“This Thanksgiving”
What are you about?
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you
not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:49
NKJV
In
Bible times when Jesus was 12 years old, His family traveled to Jerusalem to
celebrate the Feast of Passover. When the celebration was over, as the family
traveled back to their home, they realized Jesus was missing. Three days after
returning to Jerusalem they found Him teaching in the Temple. When Jesus was
asked why He was there He responded with these words from Luke 2:49…”Did you not know that I must be about My
Father’s business.”
This
Thanksgiving, what are you about? I think we all look forward to our time with
family, big dinners, and celebrating the goodness of God! What shall we do with
all of the blessings that God so generously provides to us? What if this Thanksgiving
we choose to not only be thankful for our blessings, but to create avenues of
returning blessings to others to return back to Him. Turning blessings into blessings…
Let’s
look at the words of Jesus by breaking them down into three distinct parts:
1.) I must – Passion
“Lord, I
want to be passionate about the things that please you.”
2.) Be about – Purpose
“Lord,
Help me turn my blessings into your distinct purpose.”
3.) My Father’s Business – Blessings
“Lord,
Help me turn blessings into blessings.”
Being
Thankful and turning blessings into blessings, is my Thanksgiving prayer.
This
Thanksgiving let’s take time to pause and reflect on the generous nature of
God, serving Him with passion and purpose, and turning our blessings into
blessings for all.
“I must be about my Father’s Business.”
Happy
Thanksgiving from our house to yours…
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ
