“Infallible”
The Scriptures of the entire Bible are verbally inspired of
God. It was not just the ideas that were inspired; even the choice of words were
inspired as the original writers were moved by God to write what He wanted them
to say. We therefore believe that (1) the Scriptures are God’s Word and way of
revealing himself to humankind, (2) they are infallible (never wrong), and (3)
they are the divinely authoritative guide for our faith, belief, and way of
living. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21) (Excerpt taken from
the A/G 16 Doctrines pamphlet/2011)
Infallible, (adjective)
– incapable of making mistakes or being wrong.
What a great word
to use in describing God’s Holy Scripture, infallible.
God’s Infallible Word!
We have challenged
everyone at MAG Church to read the entire Bible through this year, cover to
cover, as part of our MAG Vision 2020. I have been amazed and motivated by the
positive response we are already hearing from those investing time and building
fresh relationships with God, by engaging in His Word.
Here’s the deal …yes,
with good reason, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time, but there’s
more! The Bible is the only book that effectively gives you “Rhema Word”. The word Rhema stems from early Hebrew text
meaning, “The Living Word of God”. More
than just print on paper, God’s word comes alive every time we engage!
This probably is
not news to you, but I remind you again, from experience, that when you engage in
His Word, Rhema happens!
As we began our Biblical
journey through the Bible in a year, I started reading in Genesis. In Chapter 6
verse 14, a verse that typically could go unnoticed came alive in my heart,
mind, and soul! Let me share it with you…
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it
inside and out with pitch. Genesis 6:14 ESV
While this verse seems somewhat tucked away into
the narrative, as I read in my daily devotional time, it exploded off the page
and became life to me! What could have seemed like just another verse, came
alive with specific points of direction for me. Maybe my experience will
motivate you as well.
Four thoughts came to me from this one verse! Four
points of new life and direction in 2020!
1. Make yourself an Ark – God wants each
of us to create a safe place with Him and for Him.
2. Gopher wood – A substance whose origin
is known only to God, but as He directed Noah to build the Ark, it was the perfect
fit for what God wanted to accomplish.
3. Make rooms in the Ark – Through this verse,
God reminds me of the importance of carving out time and space for Him. If we
create the rooms, God fills us with His presence.
4. Cover it inside and outside with pitch
– Pitch is the substance that kept the water out, enabling the Ark to float. In
2020 let’s make sure we are covered inside and out with Gods Favor, Provision,
and Presence. Keeping the water out will enable us to float!
Real life inspiration…available everyday as we read
and explore God’s Infallible Word.
In the Old Testament King David may have said it
best…
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11 ESV
