“Unstoppable”
The Power of Prayer
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever
you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7 ESV
Unstoppable – The Power of
Prayer…
I
love to break open and unpack the phraseology of Jesus in John 15:7. Great
phrases to reflect on…”Abide in me, my
words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, it will be done,” and in the
next verse, By this my Father is
glorified.” I have to smile when I read that, it seems like a pretty good
deal for you and me! Abiding in Christ!
In
last week’s blog, I presented the word infallible in referring to the
inerrant written Word of God. The only thing God’s Word cannot do, is to make
an error or mistake. God’s word is infallible!
Today
I present the word unstoppable, as it pertains to the “Power of Prayer”. When a
sincere heart cries out to God, it will be heard every time! It’s unstoppable!
This
power
of prayer, can be learned through the story of the thief on the cross
just before he died. From the Easter Story, you’ll remember there were two thieves,
one on either side of Jesus when He was crucified. They were both, as they say,
guilty as sin. Both had sinned, but while one continued to reject Christ, the
thief on the other side cried out to Him in prayer.
His
prayer was, unstoppable! This is how it reads…
And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly,
I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:42-43 ESV
Prayer is unstoppable (impossible
to stop or prevent).
Here are three things I know
about prayer…
Prayer is:
1. Our Earth Connection to
Heaven
2. A way to bypass evil
3. Our formula for trust,
peace, and victory
It’s unstoppable – The Power
of Prayer!
Regardless of your past
history, sin, or current situation, help is as close as a prayer. It worked for
the thief on the cross, it will work for you, and it will work for me. God is
no respecter of persons, prayer works! It’s the power of prayer…unstoppable!
Part of our MAG 2020 vision is
to challenge every person in our church to pray at least 20 minutes a day. As
they said back in the 70’s … “Try it,
you’ll like it!” Let prayer be your “Ticket
to Paradise!”
Unstoppable – The Power of
Prayer
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces
wonderful results. James 5:16 NLT
