“Steps of Wonder”
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we
ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21
It seems like I have had
“Steps” on my mind lately. Last week, I mentioned how I begin each day with
steps of quoting scripture I’ve memorized over time. Another thing I like to do
is meditate on the scriptures once they are quoted. It makes me think and dream
of the magnificence of God in our every day steps.
Everyone who walks with God is
required to take steps. In the Old Testament God gave commands, dreams, and
visions, outlining steps He expected Godly men and women to take. When Jesus
first began His ministry in the New Testament, He called for His disciples to
take steps and then to follow Him. For Peter and Andrew it was to stop what
they were doing, leave their nets, and follow Him. I’m convinced that as long
as we endeavor to please God, steps will be required.
When God assigned Moses to
lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, there were definite steps to take.
Their deliverance came through steps of numerous plagues across Egypt, eventually
persuading Pharaoh to let God’s people go. Once that happened, more steps were
required by God’s people. Steps to follow Moses, a cloud, and a fire in the
wilderness. God always provided leadership and always required steps.
All the miracles of their
journey are certainly too numerous to mention here. I imagine all of us have
heard the story about the moment the Israelites arrived at the Red Sea. God
called Moses to certain steps in causing the waters to divide so the Israelites
could walk through on dry ground. Many times I have tried to imagine what it
must have been like to follow God into the unknown, with walls of water on both
sides! Without faith and confidence in God, it surely would of been unnerving,
and likely impossible, to take those steps. But, because of faith, their steps
into the unknown became steps of victory! They made it to the other side!
While I don’t know exactly
what steps God is asking you to take today, I know that where God guides, He
provides. He will enable you to do exactly what He has called you to do. Take a
step! God already has a plan, and I am fully convinced that He will give you
whatever you need in order for your steps to be a success!
God is able to do far more abundantly
than all that we ask or think! So now, according to the power at work within
you, take a step!
The waters are beginning to
move, God will make a way when there seems to be no way. When it’s God leading you,
don’t be afraid to take a step!
Steps into the unknown, steps
of faith, steps of wonder, steps of amazement, and steps of victory! Waters
will part, victory will happen!
Take a step!
“I will sing to the Lord,
for he has triumphed gloriously; the
horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The Lord is
my strength and my song, and he has
become my salvation; this is my God,
and I will praise him. Exodus 15:1-2
