Quarantine

“Quarantine” Shut Your Mouth! My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. Daniel 6:22-23 “Shut your mouth!” I thought that might get your attention! Quarantine …the “Q” word! Most of us have probably used the “Q” word more in the past 10 days than we have in the past 10 years! “Quarantine” brings thoughts of isolation, panic, and fear,…but here is the Good News, it doesn’t have to! America and much of the world is experiencing a coronavirus pandemic, and it seems that about everyone is at risk. Maybe it’s time to learn to say to the Devil,… ”Shut your mouth!” In the Old Testament, Daniel was suddenl...

Don’t Touch Your Face!

“Don’t Touch Your Face!” What?!! God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea. Psalm 46:1-2 You’ve been hearing about coronavirus. Today I read another story about the global outbreak of this dangerous and scary threat to us all. From what I read today, the World Health Organization has declared the coronavirus outbreak a global “pandemic”. Then, I keep hearing health experts telling me to wash my hands and not to touch my face! If you’re human like me, you may be thinking…Ok, I’m in a pandemic! I can’t find any hand sanitizer, paper towels, or toilet paper at Wal-Mart, and then they tell me not to touch my face! Do you know how hard it is to go through the day, or even through a minute, without touching your face? It’s virtually impossible it seems. Can you imagine hearing about someone dying and someone askin...

Evangelism “The Heartbeat of God”

Evangelism “The Heartbeat of God” Did you ever think about “Evangelism” as being the Heartbeat of God? From Genesis to Revelation, scripture speaks to a special calling known as “Evangelism”. The Bible teaches us that “God is love” and we know His love to be for every human being on the planet. No prejudice or exclusion in His offer of New Life!   We know the story of God’s heart through the outline in John 3:16… For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 It is not in God’s heart for any to perish, so He created “Evangelism” , which is the very Heartbeat of God, letting the world know that Jesus came to save the world from sin. Jesus called His disciples and said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19). This is “Evangelism”. God’s love carried out through believers, through those who decide to love and follow Jesus, maki...

Do not be Dismayed

“Do not be Dismayed”   Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the  Lord  your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9   Definition: Dismayed - to feel consternation or distress. Oh my! when I looked up the definition of “dismayed” in the dictionary, I immediately felt distressed! Please forgive me, but “consternation” is not a word I’m accustomed to using! I am just not familiar with that word. However, I do understand feeling distressed, dismayed, and this feeling of “consternation” all wrapped into one! I get it! Life can get crazy, consternation happens!   Maybe, I am not the only on. I’ve learned that dismay comes quick and sometimes out of nowhere, it seems! In the middle of the day, in the middle of the night, when we least expect it, there it is… consternation, distress, and dismay. All of these words basically mean the same thing …“anything an...

A Perfect God

A Perfect God… Demonstrating Perfect Love… Casting Out All Fear So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:16 ESV On the American calendar we designate one day a year for love. February 14 th is reserved for “Valentine’s Day”. It is a day designated to express and receive love. As great as that is, think about this… God your Heavenly Father expresses His love 365 days a year, around the clock, twenty four hours a day! He never forgets or fails! God is love! In the New Testament book of 1st John, God has a lot to say about love. His love is freely given to any, and to all, who receive. 1st John speaks to the nature, identity, and definition of God, when the writer explains that,…“God is love”. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.   Anyone who does...
